Taking control of your ego is taking control of your life.

My interpretation of Jungian definition of Ego and Self.

Difference between self and ego in Jungian philosophy,

Ego:

-Represents consciousness
-Responsible of emotions

Self:

-Encompasses the ego and unconscious
-Shapes ones personality

This is a vulgarization to make things simpler.
In the symbolic of Ego and Self, the Ego is the central piece while the self encompasses everything and represents one's personality and external projection.

The Self being the combination of subconscious and conscious

The Ego being the conscious and essence of everything.
For Jung, Ego is responsible for thoughts, memories and emotions.

Following this philosophy, we are essentially memories, emotional reactions and thoughts that come as a result.

Then comes the subconscious mind to shape our behavior depending on what we're not aware of.
By taking control of everything conscious, one makes his ego bigger.

Thus reducing the subconscious part, making your conscious takeover control and increasing self-awareness.

The Ego grows until it almost becomes the Self.
Keeping control of everything conscious and feeding it to your subconscious through meditation, affirmations and other practices

Grows your ego and thus your conscious mind.

Reciprocally

Your subconscious shrinks and make place for a larger consciousness (ego)
Taking control of one's conscious thoughts leads to ultimately eliminating your subconscious mind

Your conscious becomes everything you are.

Your Ego becomes your Self.

You fully embody who you essentially are.

And all of that, consciously and knowingly.
The door that leads to enlightenment is an inside door.

You have everything it takes.
