Don't tell your wife.

That is one of the most dangerous requests I can receive as a married man.

It's a high-risk statement, trouble making statement.

Trust me, the information is not worth it.

In marriage, two become one, meaning once information has travelled through one ear, you should expect it naturally to come out of the other.

Sorry, but it’s naive to expect couples not to spill your beans with each other.

When I started dating my wife, there was one value I would not compromise on and that was transparency — no secrets. If you keep anything sacred in your marriage, honesty should be wrapped up, handled with care & placed on the highest shelf out of reach from the rest of the world
It's not easy to always be honest in a marriage, especially when the truth has perfected its ability to hide behind emotions that you can't even articulate.

Dark secrets can cast a long shadow over the light of marriage. Every secret you keep from your partner is a brick in an invisible wall that separates the two of you.

Even the bro code takes a hiatus when it comes to my other half. I have been teased in friendship groups — amongst the single guys — due to this, but it's a necessary sacrifice.

My single friends don’t like it, so all the hot gist does its rounds through the mandem, gets watered down by re-telling, and censorship before I have the opportunity to fully appreciate it's flavour. Another necessary sacrifice; don’t let peer pressure break you.

The secret lives of husbands & wives, maybe it works for some. Sometimes secrets bring shame.
So instead, people commit to a lifetime of reconstructed sentences to avoid a slip of the tongue, constant glances over the shoulder to make sure the truth has not caught up to them.
Is it fair to give the world access to pieces of your existence that remain hidden from the person you have committed your life to? Is it healthy to carry that burden?

Whether it is good, bad, ugly or offensive, the truth may not set you free, but it might give you peace.
