Brief thread on the white supremacist Christian Identity theology you asked in response to this thread.

Incoming. https://twitter.com/MsEntropy/status/1349546016886820865
Before we get started, to reiterate:

This is distinct from what some call 'Christo-fascist' tendencies within broader evangelicalism.

Christian Identity = a literal group of Jesus Nazis https://twitter.com/MsEntropy/status/1349650996939550721
So why should we care about Christian Identity, especially after the Capitol insurrection?

Well, on top of what I mentioned before:

Bruce Hoffman’s 1988 survey of American terrorist groups concluded that every single one belonged under the CI umbrella.
In fact, the "past 60 years of domestic terrorism in the United States is unintelligible outside of the context of Christian Identity theology.” – Stuart Wexler (America’s Secret Jihad, 2016).

Law enforcement don’t recognize the significance of CI that much, and neither does the general public.

More than ever, that needs to change.

You should start with Stuart Wexler (book linked above).
The Order (who I talked about here https://twitter.com/MsEntropy/status/1349494892217581569) is certainly one of the most famous white supremacist terrorist groups associated with CI, but the roots of violently racist Christianity in America go back much further.

As an aside:

The later decades of tactics and strategies associated w/affiliates of Wesley Swift’s Church of Jesus Christ-Christian (est. 1946) will be familiar to anyone who is well versed in the evolution of Al Qaeda from the 1990s on.

Back to the point of this thread. Here's a brief explainer and run-down of Christian Identity's white supremacist theology:

-their ultimate goal is to incite an apocalyptic race war
-Genesis is interpreted to identify Jews as Satan's spawns, the devil's actual children
CI theology (cont):

-Minorities are considered subhuman, interpreted through Old Testament references to, among others, “beasts of burden.”
-Jews manipulate minority groups against the white majority, especially African Americans (British Israelism is an antecedent here)
CI theology (cont):

-White people are the true children of Israel as mentioned in the Bible
-Far more emphasis on Old Testament interpretations (refer back to the idea of whites as the ‘true’ children of Israel) than New Testament approaches to evangelical Christianity
CI theology (cont):

-America is envisioned as the new ‘Promised Land’ (white Americans are viewed as especially ‘chosen’)
-Because Jews are agents of Satan, and minorities are working for them, it’s not just Biblically sanctioned but theologically obligatory to kill them
CI theology (cont):

-Abortion is seen as a front-line for God’s warriors because of the perceived war against white majority control

I'll pick back up on this one in a later thread, because it is EXTREMELY important for the public to know.
I point at the reasons why abortion is central to public ignorance of white supremacism as a serious threat below, but I'll flesh it out in the anti-abortion thread I promised after I finish job apps.

Christian Identity theology explainer above is now added to the Capitol master thread list and I'm off again for a while now. https://twitter.com/MsEntropy/status/1349771049680789505?s=20
This is pretty damn important. I’ve casually watched QAnon since they started, but they’re not anywhere near an area I’d expertise.

Christian Identity on the rise in QAnon circles, yikes.
