Already quite a few gusts in the 30-40 mph range today. The slight popping noise in my windows has been an occasional reminder.
The 30+ club has expanded with a new high of 47 mph at Shelby (Bolivar Co). Starting to get some power outages in a few areas as well now.
Meanwhile, the strong mixing resulting in the wind gusts has also lowered RHs into the teens especially in South MS (That reading in Richland Parish looks iffy) Sure enough, there are increasing reports of wildfires this afternoon.
Wildfire activity continues to increase through the afternoon.
On the DGX radar, multiple smoke plumes are evident (low CC) south of I-20, as widespread virga increases north of I-20 (high CC but not likely reaching the surface due to the aforementioned RHs)
Also note the radar sensitivity increasing as it was switched into VCP 31. I will put money on @PanhandleMetNF being involved in that decision. 😂
