Amity doesn't actually want to go into the emperor's coven. Rather she's manipulated into thinking she wants to go into it. How do i think this? Look at these scenes here. Amity looks disinterested and sad during the presentation.

Now one thing i did take into account is her resting face/mask. However, it is not the same as her usual mask which is more of a neutral expression. This expression is sad so therefore she's actually feeling it.
She doesn't perk up until Bump says "only the best can ascend these ranks. Someday that might be one of you" as he points at Amity. I do think she's genuinely happy here. However not at being in the emperor's coven, but by being the best. Let me call attention to this clip here:
Based on this quote here, everyone, and mostly likely their parents believe the Blight Twins hold up the blight family name. And we can infer that Amity,, in the eyes of her parents, doesn't. Parental Favoritism basically. And in Covention, she says she spent her whole life
working towards the top. She sounds so desperate. Like, she almost wanted to prove to her parents she is worthy of being a Blight, being their daughter, that she is worthy. Gonna bring back the scenes here again, this time the 2nd scene:
Notice she doesn't say "dream" she says "FUTURE". Sure, at first listen they mean the same thing. But "dream" is what a person longs to do. A "future" could mean the same, but it also can not. It can mean what they are set up to do. Dreams aren't always achievable.
This could be also why Amity went for the abomination track at hexside. It's not possible for the Blight Parents to force Amity into the Abominantion track since Edric and Emira are not in it. However, in the flashback from YBOS, young Alador and Odalia seem to both be in gasp
the abomination track. Amity could have chosen the abomination track to get the admiration of her parents. Also, it's clear Odalia wants Amity to be like her. The hair color, the hairstyle, everything so that could warrant more praise. Amity may be good at the abomination track
but we don't know if its something she's entirely interested in. She's really into books, azura, and art. Heck she may even be into another track. That we don't know.
