At a time that every other news outlet in the country is breathlessly talking about the “unprecedented” times we are living through, as record numbers of dead are reached,

At a time that every other news outlet in the country is breathlessly talking about the “unprecedented” times we are living through, as record numbers of dead are reached,
as a violent insurrection takes place in an attempt to overthrow a democratic election, as the President is impeached a second time, the front page of the Highlands Ranch Herald featured a puff piece about an outgoing county commissioner.
This is an utter dereliction of your duty to hold power to account, and to connect local stories to the most shocking national news of my nearly fifty year lifetime.
@KyleClark highlighted a Highlands Ranch state legislator, @MarkBaisley, who repeated conspiracy theories, and a Highlands Ranch resident who attended the January 6 riot in Washington, D.C.
Residents have pointed out that a local charter school leader, Kim Gilmartin of Ascent Charter, attended the riots as well. And the Herald? Is talking about substitute teachers and brushing horses.
The free press is a cornerstone of our democracy. Please do a better job holding up your corner.
