1995: Me Against The World - 2pac

Tupac followed up his ‘93 S4MN performance w an absolute gem of an album in 1995, this is by far my fave 90s album.

Hm: Liquid Swords, The infamous

1996: All Eyes on Me - 2pac

Back to back like Jordan, Pac couldn’t be stopped with this 2+ hr classic. He went 27/27 on this amazing & influential project

Fave tracks: Ambitionz as a Ridah, Holla at me, Heaven aint hard 2 find

Hm: ATLiens, The 7 day Theory, It was Written

1997: Wu-Tang Forever - Wu-Tang Clan

Although a slight departure from 36 Chambers, Wu-Tang Forever is still a masterful hip hop album that features some of the greatest rappers oat.

Fave tracks: triumph, as high as wutang gets, reunited

Hm: In my lifetime, supa dupa fly

1998: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill - Lauryn Hill

An absolute classic. Ms. Lauryn Hill proved on this LP that she should be remembered as one of hh’s best.

Fave tracks- Doo wop, nothing even matters, the miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Hm: its dark and hell is hot, aquemini

1999: Black on Both Sides - Mos Def

A masterful hh album, truly one of the best I’ve ever heard. Yasiin Bey one upped his collab project black star on this solo effort imo

Hm: Things fall apart, the slim shady lp

2000: The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem

Shady proved himself with his absolutely ridiculous show of raw talent on this record, one of the best peak’s in hip hop history

Hm: Supreme clientele, Stankonia

2001: The Blueprint - Jay-Z

Hov’s blueprint is one of those hh albums that seems to get better with every listen, its an undisputed classic

Hm: Stillmatic, Until the end of time

2002: The Eminem Show - Eminem

Em hit his peak on this record imo, everything about the album is perfectly done, from the flows to the production, a classic

2003: The Black Album - Jay-Z

One of the hardest years to pick for me, but this project is just too good. I love the features, the production, and the confidence that Hov has

Hm: Get rich or die trying

2004: Madvillain - MF DOOM & Madlib

RIP DOOM, this was his magnum opus, brilliant flows, an amazing alter ego, great production, this album has it all

Hm: Mm.. food, the new danger

2005: Late Registration - Kanye West

Kanye’s best imo, an incredible display of production, features, song crafting, and skits combine into this outstanding project

Fave tracks: hey mama, heard em say, diamonds from sierra leone

Hm: Be, Carter 2

2006: Donuts - J Dilla

Dilla goes down as one of the most influential and important producers in not only hiphop but music history in large part due to this beat tape

Fave tracks: last donut of the night, waves, mash

Hm: Food & Liquor, hell hath no fury

2007: Graduation - Kanye West

My personal fave Kanye album, i love the production and hooks and samples on graduation so much.. takes me back to my childhood

Hm: American Gangster, Curtis

2008: Carter III - Lil Wayne

The best Carter imo, Weezy F was on his shit for this album, one of the first hiphop albums i ever heard/ loved

Fave tracks: 3peat, a milli, shoot me down

Hm: Paper Trails, 808s & Heartbreak

2009: Man on the Moon: The End of Day - Kid Cudi

A classic that i will undoubtedly listen to for the rest of my life, this has been there for me and many others when we needed it most

Fave tracks: pursuit of happiness, soundtrack 2 my life, hyyerr

Hm: only built 4 cuban linx

2010: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West

What can i say that hasnt already been said about this album.. absolute perfection.

Fave tracks: Devil in a new dress, runaway, gorgeous

Hm: man on the moon 2, how i got over

2011: Undun - The Roots

Quite possibly one of the best concept albums of all time, Black Thought displays why he’s undoubtedly one of the goats

Fave tracks: make my, sleep, finality

Hm: House of Balloons, Take Care, Carter IV

2012: good Kid, m.A.A.d city - Kendrick Lamar

Possibly a hot take but this is a top 20 hiphop album oat imo, outstanding westcoast production, great skits, and an outstanding concept

Hm: Channel Orange, 1999

2013: Watching Movies with the Sound Off - Mac Miller

An incredibly unique sound, Mac successfully transitioned from frat rap to dark experimental hiphop. One of my favorite albums ever.

Hm: NWTS, Acidrap

2014: Piñata - Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

My 3rd favorite album ever. Freddie’s lyricism and flows are outstanding, the features are all great, and of course the legendary Madlib kills production

Hm: 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Cilvia Demo

2015: To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar

Greatest album of all time.

Fave Tracks: Alright, King Kunta, The blacker the berry

Hm: At long last a$ap, rodeo, if you’re reading this its too late

2016: Blonde - Frank Ocean

This album has been there for me when I really needed it, every track is amazing and frank’s singing is exceptional

Fave tracks: solo, ivy, solo reprise

Hm: we got it from here.. thank you 4 your service, 4 your eyez only, coloring book

2017: All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ - Joey Bada$$

An incredibly aware record that touches on black struggles in modern day america with great lyricism and production

Fave Tracks: Rockabye baby, devastated, for my people

Hm: 4:44, Damn., Luv is Rage 2

2018: Swimming - Mac Miller

My absolute favorite album of all time, Mac is super introspective on his issues with substance abuse and depression

Fave Tracks: 2009, Small Worlds, Dunno

Hm: Kids See Ghosts, Ye, Daytona

2019: Bandana - Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib brought the heat yet again on their sophomore collab, with a heavenly beat package that Madlib made ona fucking ipad and arguably Freddie’s best ever flows

Fave Tracks: Cataracts, Crime Pays, Situations

Hm: Igor

2020: Circles - Mac Miller

Mac Miller’s Circles saved my life and is my 2nd favorite album ever. I absolutely love the alternative hh production and his singing is so comforting, the lyrics so relatable
