DC Mayor Bowser is once again asking Americans not to come to Washington DC for the inauguration, and to participate virtually instead
Capital Bikeshare around the National Mall, Capitol Hill, and Union Station will be unavailable until further notice. DC Streetcar service is suspended until further notice.
The city is encouraging businesses to print and display these signs

NPS Superintendent Jeff Reinbold says two locations on Pennsylvania Ave have been designated as First Amendment areas. About 100 people will be allowed to gather after a security screening and will be monitored by security officials.
DC Mayor Bowser says that she will not be ordering hotels to close around the inauguration, recognizing there are housing needs in the city.
Those engaging in First Amendment rights will be at the Navy Memorial and John Marshall Park. They will be screened by magnetometers and will be accompanied by Park officials the entire time.
Regarding threat levels to neighborhoods outside of the city, Secret Service's Miller says they're following credible threats, but that MPD will have a robust presence and residents should not be concerned.
DC Mayor Bowser says there is a possibility of additional road closures inbound to Washington, and that residents should watch for new announcements in the coming days closer to the inauguration
Matt Miller of the Secret Service says he can't confirm if extremist groups will be coming to DC for the inauguration, but that the city is preparing as if they are.
NPS Superintendent Reinbold says the two first amendment actions being permitted are groups that are often in DC, and have worked with them to scale down their events to the cap of 100 people
DC Mayor Bowser says she expects the city to return to a "new normal" after the inauguration. "While we are focused on January the 20, we're also focused on January 21 and every day thereafter in the nation's capital"
DC Mayor Bowser says she doesn't expect visiting National Guard to be in the city for weeks after the inauguration, but that there needs to be a rethinking of security in the nation's capital.
DC Mayor Bowser says she "doesn't like fences," but says the one erected around the Capitol is necessary. There currently isn't a recommendation of when the fence should come down.
DC Police Chief Contee says residents in some of the neighborhoods around the Capitol will need to show ID to get into their neighborhoods. If residents run into any issues, they should reach out to DC Police.
DC officials say residents could see “activity” from outside individuals as soon as early Saturday. I’d recommend people to make sure they’re stocked on groceries before then. Curfews are a possibility through the week and could come with little warning.
