These last 2 week have been extremely hard for me. This will be a long thread. Last week on Tuesday I was attacked by a popular far-right individual for being pansexual. The next day the capital was attacked. Both events made me feel helpless, scared and sad.
I am lucky to have the support of so many friends that supported me and some even donated to @HRC. Some good things did happen those two days too. The Georgia race was one by progressives, the congress certified the vote of Joe Biden, and I won a scholarship for a gaming program!
But seeing my feeds fill up with so much hate made me even more depressed. I am a lot closer to liberation values and I could not understand why people who claim to support free enterprise are against private companies serving who they want.
I admit I am conflicted on this but @pennjillette explained it best in his piece for @CNN: Penn Jillette: In Indiana, let them eat gay wedding cake: https://www.cnn.com/2015/04/02/opinions/jillette-indiana-law/index.html
This has nothing to do with Section 230 and by having the government force allowing content could violate the first amendment:
In the wake of all this the Replication Party in my home county called for war urging their membership to arm itself. The Wisconsin State GOP Chair event denounced this but they would not take it down. The website got shut down it seems by their hosting provider.
I am scared, I was shot when I was 12 walking my dog. I emailed my local police department asking how to stay safe to no reply. Same goes for our Mayor. I also learned we have 2 extreme hate groups in the town I live in. One was even (previously) classified by the @splcenter.
These groups call for violence and extreme right ideals. One wants to expel Islam, certain immigrants, LGBTQA people. We even have a rash of pride flag burnings and other hate actions. I don't feel safe, I am arming our security system during the day at home.
I also got us emergency response apps by ADT when we are away from home. This is not the town I thought I knew. I live less than 1 mile from Minnesota, this is not ok.
So what have I done to help? All I fell I can do is donate. So I have donated to @HolocaustMuseum (Which has a great piece about symbols of hate used during the capital attack: https://www.ushmm.org/antisemitism/what-is-antisemitism/origins-of-neo-nazi-and-white-supremacist-terms-and-symbols)
Also donated to the @ObamaFoundation as a monthly member. I already was a member of @HRC but they are doing great work for LGBTQA+ people. I gave to @CommonCause and @MoveOn to help with election protection.
We gave to the Employee Assistance Programs of the companies we rely on and love. @alamodrafthouse, @GoDaddy, @Target, @yumbrands, @amazon, @WholeFoods, @Twins, @CocaCola & @comcast. All powered by the non-profit @EmployeeRelief

I gave to @StCroixDems to help fight the extreme call from the Saint Croix County GOP. I gave to @delawarehumane for their Indoguration.
I gave to @BidenInaugural which is a non-profit to support this important event. I also sponsored the "Field of Flags" which gives to 22 non-profits and places a flag in your honor on the national mall: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/pic2021_fieldofflags?refcode=social&amount=25 #Inauguration2021
We got tickets for a special event supporting the @BidenInaugural that is tonight: https://www.bideninaugural.org/Hollywood #Inauguration2021
I was lucky enough to get a invite so we bought tickets for the @HRC Power of Equality Inaugural Event: https://one.bidpal.net/unity/welcome #Inauguration2021
I applied to volunteer for @TrevorProject to help LGBTQA+ youth. Want to volunteer on MLK Jr. day for the National Day of Service? Find ways to volunteer virtually:

I know I am not doing enough but I am sad, scared and depressed. I am thankful for friends, a job I love and my wonderful family.
