Reports and Baker's own admission cited the pressure by MA's real estate and building lobbying groups. Yet it's crucial to note these groups - NAIOP, Boston Chamber of Commerce, & Western Mass Economic Dev. Council - are also members of a utilities & fossil fuel frontgroup 2/
The Mass Coalition for Sustainable Energy, supported by gas pipeline company Enbridge and utilities Eversource and National Grid, lobbied in the summer against an earlier version of the bill. Meanwhile, Eversource is also a member of NAIOP MA, the state's commercial real estate association and lobbying group. Marcy Reed, president of National Grid MA, is on the Board of the Boston Chamber of Commerce. 4/
