I was sad to see today that this rather anonymous building on The Hyde at Hendon, has now been demolished. It was called Romac House, and I have mentioned it before...(Thread)
In it's last incarnation it was Japarts, a motor spares business. I'm sure it may have been other things in the recent past, however, it's original purpose was as the factory and offices of Romac Industries.
This late 1930s Aerofilms image shows the factory to the far left, next to the enormous Duple Coach and Body Works. This is where @sainsburys is now, and the two sites are going to be redeveloped for a massive St Edward Homes housing scheme.
Here's a crop of the previous image, and you can clearly see the corner tower, with the 'Romac' name at the top.

Romac's core business had been motor accessories......
..however they did move briefly into the manufacture of radios and televisions in the 1950s.

I'm not sure when the company left Hendon, I'd guess it was the 1970s. I do find it very sad seeing so many of these old industrial buildings being wiped out. They represent a period when The Hyde, Hendon, was a name associated with manufacturing, known all over the world.
