I’ve spent a good part of my career fundraising for projects that were ahead of consumer demand.

Sounds fun except in the #WealthManagement business a lot of executives had convinced themselves their clients won’t change... 1/
...nor was it easy 10-15 years ago to convince people consumer preference for #FinServ would be set by experiences OUTSIDE of banking and instead by the likes of $AMZN, $AAPL, $MSFT (Xbox), and $NFLX. 2/
I finally started incorporating blatant examples of products that have evolved over time, reminding sponsors seismic shifts occur when generations turnover every 20-25 yrs.

In presentations I would always do this in picture form.

My go-to’s:

*Gramophone > record player > CD > streaming music

*Stagecoach > Car > Driverless

*Airplane > Rocket > Space Travel

*Parchment > Paperback > Kindle > Audio Book

*Camera obscura > 35MM > Smartphone

*Board games > video games > eSports > AR/VR

And my fav: people used to cook but now they just get DoorDash. 😜

There are a million other examples because the human race doesn’t stand still.
