Delhi govt's socio-economic survey https://indianexpress.com/article/india/delhi-survey-school-education-govt-facilities-computers-7146867/
The predominant reason for not attending school in the age group of 6-17 years is financial constraint (29.2%). As many as 13.50% “engaged in domestic duties”, 12.17% gave “desired education level achieved” as reason, while 9.37% were said to be “engaged in economic activities”
Of the total population of Delhi, 11.04% comprise children in the age group of 0-6 years, of whom just over half (55.40%) attended anganwadi centres. Among pregnant women aged 18 years and above, 47.15% were found to be attending these centres
Survey found that nearly 1/4th of children in the age group 0-5 years had not received nor were receiving vaccination — those who were covered comprised 77.54%. In absolute numbers, out of 9.5 lakh children falling in the 0-5 age bracket, 2.13 lakh had not received vaccination
The survey covered 1.02 crore people (20.5 lakh households). As per the 2011 Census, Delhi has a population of 1.67 crore. It was carried out between November 2018-2019 at a cost of Rs 26 crore.
Survey started after deaths of three minor girls of suspected starvation in East Delhi’s Mandawali in July 2018. A government probe found that officials had added their names in the records of the local anganwadi after their deaths.
