This is total hyperbole. GOP is a handful of seats away from retaking control of Congress in 2 years, and if its “brand is radioactive for a huge chunk of America,” that’s true of Dems too. 2020 was *very* close and GOP still holds most governorships & state legislatures. In an election-focused media world, it’s always tempting to equate the momentary majority status of a party with its overall health. But that doesn’t always apply. The GOP has some serious problems right now, but they are problems with governing much more than winning elections.
PS—Plus, if there’s one clear lesson from the results of the 2020 election, it’s surely that party fundraising advantages don’t go very far when both sides have plenty of money and most voters are unpersuadable
