Please please please research your trainers before you trust them with your fitness journey.
Ask about their certifications. Ask about their background in fitness. Any trainer that worth it won’t be offended by these questions. Plus it will save you injuries in the long run.

If a trainer has you pushing a weight that you believe is too heavy, tell them. If they insist on you pushing it despite your expression of pain, leave them.
You should always start light to get your form right and then progress with weights.

If it’s your first time doing the exercise and the weight is so heavy that you cannot do it without assistance from your “trainer” drop them.
Also, ask about your exercises. What muscles are they targeting? How would this help me functionally in my day to day activities?
Again, any trainer that’s certified would be glad to share this information. If they’re offended by this line of questioning, LEAVE THEM!
