Saw a response to my tweet about trickle down romanceanomics that said "Maybe your books just aren't good enough." I ignore trolls, but this is something many people think even if they don't say so I'll just briefly respond:
The truth is white supremacist societies have primed people to believe marginalized people are incapable of producing (or even consuming) great art while simultaneously mining our cultures for it. The burden is always put on us to prove we are "good enough" and it's a sick joke.
It's a form of constant gaslighting for marginalized creators that's rooted in the ridiculous idea that entire races of people (and non cis-het people) somehow aren't "good enough" instead of the more logical answer that societies have predetermined whether they're allowed to be.
