I've been struggling about expectations for Bieniemy. Here's 17 tweets about my thoughts on EB and Reid OC's.
EB is 51 years old, and has had some sort of coaching role for 20 years.
EB has spent 15 (!!) seasons as a college or NFL RB Coach

EB spent 2 years at Colorado as the Offensive Coordinator
- 2011 Averaged 19.8 PPG (109/120)
- 2012 Averaged 17.8 PPG (120/124)
EB has been KC's OC for the past 3 years. In that time they've been a top 6 scoring offense in every season.

We know the players love him. From Mahomes to AP, he's been praised by NFL athletes that have worked with him.
...Why did it take EB so long to get a job as an OC at the college level (10 years), and then struggle MIGHTLY in that role? I have no idea.

Reid has almost always been the playcaller in his own offense. He's an offensive genius, and wants to have control. So what does that leave to EB?
He "Helps assemble the playbook and weekly game plans" for the KC Chiefs per B/R.

That's not to downplay his importance to this offense, but in his next role, he may have to call plays, and if he doesn't it won't be Reid executing his ideas.
He clearly must do more than this...but it's not totally clear what he does...

If a team wants to know what he really does in Kansas City, the best place to find out is in an interview. He's set up to interview with every HC vacancy in the NFL. He's certainly earned that. What he does in those interviews, we'll never know.
We saw something very similar in 2019 with Pete Carmichael. The OC for the NO Saints over the last decade.
PC is a great example of an OC in an offense with a HoF HC calling plays more often than not.
What makes EB more qualified than PC?
I don't think it's Reid>Payton

Dowhower ended his career as the OC in Philly, so we can't see his future after Reid.

I no NOTHING about the NFL coach hiring process, but I'm worried about the sky-high expectations some have for EB.
The one time we've seen him as a playcaller was egregious.
If it's his pregame prep, is he any better than Nagy?
If it's both, is he any better than Carmichael?

He's had Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to guide his career as an OC. OC's under Reid have never really hit their stride (excluding Pederson's SB season).
