Was asked what sort of chatter I’m seeing now.

By and large, I’m not.

The insurrectionists were operating out in the open, with impunity.

And judging by the response of the Capitol Police, that was justified.

Now that they’re receiving push back, they’ve gone to ground.
What I can say is this:

I do not expect another large group attack similar to the storming of the Capitol.

Rather, the main danger is from individuals or small cells capable of high casualty events such as bombings or shootings.
I believe the de-platforming of Trump has already saved lives and will continue to do so.

Not all, but many of those inclined towards violence are looking to him for guidance. With most modes of communication shut off, they’re waiting for orders and are back on standby.
With the shutdown of Parler and other platforms that offered a haven to insurrectionists, their movement is fragmented.

However, authorities allowed them to operate with impunity for so long that they were able to make connections within their community.
Those connections were strengthened by face-to-face meetings in Washington DC in November, December, and of course on J6.

You’re not going to see a lot of outright planning on these forums anymore because it’s now being done by individuals on Signal, for ex, or even in person.
The other factor to consider is that these insurrectionists have a firm deadline of January 20.

They’ll continue to operate after that date, but the time constraints are leading to an apocalyptic world view and an accelerated radicalization process.
When I say accelerated radicalization process, on the forums I monitored, participants went from “Back the Blue” to “We’re going to have to kill some cops” in about six days.

So while the movement is fragmented, in many ways they’re more dangerous than ever.
