I want to share with you that I in fact, practice what I preach by working through my OWN internalized white supremacy and anti-Blackness

At the time, I responded honestly, that I really didn’t know
I knew what I wanted to say “that I wouldn’t care” and yet, I knew that doing so would’ve been rooted in a need to be seen as “good” because it wasn’t anything that I’d ever thought about
So I responded and moved on

For some reason, that question popped into my mind this morning, and after yrs of doing this work; always learning, I wanted to share my response here...
“I wouldn’t care”
Why am I so sure about this response today?
“I wouldn’t care”
Why am I so sure about this response today?
Because it aligns with how I’ve treat my partners all of my intimate relationships...what started off as developing an understanding of “don’t ask questions that you really don’t want to know the answers to”, soon developed into “Kim, is that really any of your fuckin business?”
I’ve developed a habit of meeting folx where they are & respecting the fact that they’ve led full lives before me & will do so after
Now pair that with a much more nuanced understanding of gender & sexuality AND white supremacy’s role in defining both...I reject its role fully

I am a Black woman, decedents of slaves, whose very existence is political due to the systems, institutions, and policies of white supremacy, I am committed to doing whatever I can, whenever I can, to challenge white supremacy’s oppressive grip on “others”
