Interesting zoom call hosted by @contextworld regarding impacts of running our businesses via screens this morning.

Lots of contributors from different vendors and sales territory’s. Have summarised a few takeaways.

Thread....1/6
Culture 2/6
-Difficult for new starters to have the full experience meeting colleagues in-person.
-Spontaneity suffering (water cooler convos etc).
-Usual office banter/chats/colleague support missed and a key part of social cohesion/feelings of belonging.
Sales 3/6
-Difficult to generate new business and relationships via screen.
-Competencies of sales need to change (less field/more screen).
-Opportunities for more non-sales to enter sales as ability to travel less imp.
-Get togethers missed (bonding/motivation).
On camera 4/6
-Screen time has to be well managed and prepared.
-Keeping attention is key challenge.
-Things more transactional.
-Chemistry less evident.
-People more forgiving.
-Dress code less formal.
-Lighting/Sound/Framing (content + production) must be reviewed.
General 5/6
-Pendulum swing from “just screens” to that + “some F2F social time with colleagues” seemed key outcome.
-The death of distance for talent/biz dev/resource.
-X-cultural relationships tougher to develop as usual rituals like trust building F2F in eve over dinner.
General 6/6
-Upside is plenty of ppl on call that wouldn’t normally meet or hear from.
-Difficult to have same “shared experiences” as in person (emotion/feelings/moments) via screens
-Energy on screen is key. @dominiccolenso comment “We’re all in in showbiz now resonated.”
