I don't think I've felt genuine love for new Sonic characters since the Egg Bosses back in Archie but IDW has been killing it with all of it's additions. Tangle, Whisper, Mimic, the Skunk Bros, Belle everybody is on point. But, I gotta gush about Starline for a minute.

Starline is one of my favorite Sonic Characters period. From his intro to now he has been nothing less than amazing. His flamboyant attitude, his unique and eye-catching design, and his unexpectedly really well rounded character arc. They've set up this guy perfectly.
Right off the bat he expands the universe of Sonic by having a character that is actually inspired by Eggman instead of Sonic, showing that his message can be just as influential as Sonic on the citizens of their world. But that's not where they leave it either...
Bad Guys gave us an entire dedicated mini-series with him about coming into his own. Recognizing the flaws in his idol and in himself to become a better villain. To me, it was almost kinda wholesome?? Working to better himself for him alone rather than for other people.
To add onto the fact he's pretty much the Anti-Infinite, instead of an overly edgy villain with a paper thin motivation and a cardboard personality. This guy is the perfect blend between calculated and threatening mixed with funny and over the top. The ideal Sonic balance.
Starline just hits all the right notes for me and I can't wait to see where his character goes in the future. This is the most invested I have been in Sonic for SO long and people are sleeping on it. Even if the next game is a disappointment I have these comics to go back to.
