Two weeks of teaching on Teams makes me by no means an expert, however here’s what I’ve found so far in case it helps anyone else 🤷🏼‍♀️
All of this will be obvious to most people probably, but it might help someone!!!
If you aren’t already using class notebook - do it!! You can watch them type live, keep all their work in one place and track engagement. Mine treat theirs like their exercise book. They start a new page for each day.
The teacher only section on Class Notebook is where I’ve started planning my lessons. I just start a new page and put all of the students work on there. I always make a separate page for whatever it is that we are reading that day, so that they have a copy of that too.
I always make a Powerpoint with the same instructions on though, just in case someone’s class notebook for whatever reason has some technical issues that day.
So today my Y7s did Skellig Chapter 6 and they had all of their work already preloaded into notebook, all they had to do was fill in the blanks.
You give everyone a copy by pressing class notebook > distribute page. This way, everyone has their work set up the same way.
I’ve found it’s easier to view Class Notebook by pressing the “open in browser” option- it syncs far quicker and avoids the lag after you’ve live marked - students can see it instantly.
All students that I teach now have access to this, including those on phones and ipads. It means I can track their engagement and keep all their work in one place 🙌🏻 I’ve found I can read out all their answers too, avoiding the awkward silence of asking for answers🤷🏼‍♀️
