Seriously this 200 million narrative from the media and rival fans which even our own fans have begun to buy into is so stupid. We spent 72 million on one of the best young talents in the world who was never going to give returns immediately. (1)
We signed him because he was available and couldn't miss out on securing a target that would be great for our long term future even if he doesn't make an immediate impact.
We signed a striker for 47 million, who scored a shit ton of goals in the Bundesliga (2)

Who we all knew would take some time to really get to the pace of the PL because he thrives on spaces, which he will create once he adjusts fully to the league. And don't forget he has had to fill in on the wings for many games. (3)
We signed a brilliant creative player, who is experienced as well for around 33 million, who has worked his magic for some games, while being out with injuries and recovering for the most part. (4)
We signed a strong experienced CB, who is 36 years old and won't play every game but still makes a huge impact defensively for free. Great returns for a free transfer so far. (5)
And last but not least, Edouard Mendy for 22 million. A goalkeeper who has upgraded our GK spot but not really what you'd say one of the leading keepers in the world. (6)
So essentially we signed Ziyech, Mendy and Silva for instant impact - one of whom has been injured a lot and has made an impact whenever he has played, for a grand total of around 55 million.
The other two who are high cost were anyway going to take time.

So how is 200 million and still not winning titles an argument when in essence, the signings we made for improving us instantly cost us 55 million and the rest went for players who would improve us gradually as and when they settled in and started firing on all fronts?
Moral of the story - stop falling for media narratives. We should know where our club is headed more than they do, and instead of falling for it, we need to see where we've invested for what before judging a club's dealings based on half a season of football. Do better.
I'm not saying we should be in the position we are in, and shouldn't be doing better, but the 200 million argument and bringing it up everytime we talk about our season in general is so stupid.
