It has nothing to do with the right or left wing at all. It’s the establishment emboldening itself and bolstering its ascendancy, using politicians, at the expense of the working class. A comfy, anaesthetised, paid off middle class snoozes and pats its tum. The poor suffer. https://twitter.com/leannewood/status/1349766829024145409
And before anyone says “But the middle class suffers too”, you are suffering from a higher baseline. The house you might lose in a liquidity crisis is worth a leafy £400,000 and the house someone poor might lose is a one bed flat worth £85,000.
It’s easy to sneer at Farage. But whilst Tory and Labour MPs utter complete drivel from their twitter accounts, alienating most decent people, he knows that a massive swathe of the electorate, rich or poor, is politically orphaned and agnostic. They want someone who honours them.
Farage would draw votes from the left or right. That fight is long over, it’s now about the top and bottom, serving those inside and those excluded. I suspect some decent right wing MPs have more in common with some decent left wing MPs, than they do with some in their own party.
