Thread. The UK government have failed to safeguard the right of British musicians to work freely in the EU. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jan/14/brexit-touring-row-uk-proposals-not-fit-for-purpose-says-eu
To pretend this is the EU’s fault, and not the direct result of this government’s Brexit, is an insult to the intelligence.
@OliverDowden You blame the EU. But it isn’t the EU’s job to protect British musicians’ rights any more. It’s yours.
@BorisJohnson just stated that British musicians have a right to play in the EU for 90 out of 180 days. But that’s an EU proposal which was rejected by his government.
Many British orchestras have to tour Europe in order to stay afloat. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/music/2021/jan/06/uk-touring-musicians-hit-by-double-whammy-of-brexit-and-covid
British musicians now face the same fate as British fish: rotting on the dock, abandoned by this arrogant, complacent, incompetent government.
