Listening to US media and I'm out of patience with the presumption of goodwill assigned to malevolent actors despite decades of evidence. So here are two baseline hypotheses:
1) the far right, including militias, and no matter the country, is fundamentally anti-democratic.
1/
2) the right, no matter the country, aims to corrupt democracy.
If this makes you mad, that's fine, I'm not here to make friends and you don't have to follow me or listen to me. I'm here to speak my mind and to learn.
2/
Especially the militias in the US have benefited from some kind of moronic aura of "rugged pro-democracy eccentrics" afforded to white people, because they hitch their violent white supremacist authoritarian program to one wilfully misinterpreted bit of the constitution.
3/
On the fact that right wing politics aims to corrupt democracy, this is the definition of their program aiming to maintain and amplify unequal private property endowments and property accumulation. These are incompatible with the public good and democratic function.
4/
We can't afford to assume good intentions or a baseline of agreement on "common goods" in society, including "democracy," or "better lives for the majority of people," or "a stable climate so that human civilisation can exist." Some groups/people are just plain malevolent.
5/
Evidence #1: faced with a US administration that might actually do something about climate, the American Petroleum Institute ramps up their deadly lobbying under guise of "supporting economic and environmental progress."

And of course, their man in Washington, Senator Manchin, Democratic head of the Energy Committee, is ready to deliver for them. This is not democracy.

Evidence #2 : this epic expose of the free school meal fiasco in the UK by @paulmasonnews , showing how the government systematically favours private profit over the public good. This is not democracy. This is capitalism barely hiding behind a government. https://twitter.com/paulmasonnews/status/1348927035251580929
Anyway. I woke up grumpy this morning. I'm extremely tired of people assigning the presumption of good will to terrible groups and terrible people. Stop doing it, and organise and strategise in consequence. Thanks. Have a nice day. End/
