Did you know that one third of new European VC funds were raised in London over the last two years? 🤯

But how did Europe’s VC #investment landscape change in 2020? Take a look👇 #europe #tech #london
1/ VC investment into London tech reached $10.5bn in 2020, close to the record-breaking $10.7bn raised in 2019, according to the latest report from @dealroomco and @londonpartners.
2/ More than half of London’s capital came from outside Europe in 2019-20 — and more than two thirds from the US. But Stockholm and Amsterdam attracted more US investment, as a percentage, than London.
3/ London’s largest funding rounds were secured by startups in fintech, energy, food and transport, which shows the maturity of London tech ecosystem:
@revolutapp $500m
@arrival $400m
@octopus_energy ÂŁ300m
@KarmaKitchenLDN ÂŁ235m
4/ London’s fintech, enterprise software and transportation sectors attracted the largest VC investment in 2020 — and grew fast elsewhere in the world too.
5/ Half of Europe’s VC fintech investment was raised by London’s startups in 2020 — 6x more than Paris and Berlin.
6/ 2020 was a bumper year for software startups: London VC investment into enterprise software grew by 82%, jumping from $1bn to $1.9bn for 2019-20. But Amsterdam has seen the highest growth (192%).
7/ Another sector which saw major capital growth in 2020 was transportation: London’s startups received 7.5x more money than the year before. Paris and Berlin's investment dropped in this sector while Amsterdam saw an uplift from $0.1bn to $0.3bn.
8/ Leading VC investment in healthtech, London startups secured $0.7bn in 2020, closely followed by Paris ($0.5bn) and Berlin ($0.4bn). Stockholm and Amsterdam experienced the most significant VC investment growth for 2019-20.
9/ Investment in London’s foodtech startups fell from $0.8bn to $0.6bn for 2019-20, while it went up by 63% in Paris. Still, London’s @karmakitchen nailed the largest foodtech round of the year.
10/ As for what’s to come in 2021, the $12bn raised by VCs between 2019 and 2020 suggests a continual growth of the tech ecosystem at all stages.
