In American reparations have been paid to oppressed groups such as Native Americans Tribes, Holocaust Survivors, Asians from the American quarantine camps, and the Japanese from being nuclear bombing carried out by America.

Interestingly, African Americans, the group that received the harshest form of oppression, which lasted 400 years in America, the only group that came to America against their will, is also the only group that have been denied reparations.

President Abraham Lincoln did agree that black people should receive reparations as he was looking to right the wrongs in America and he signed the Special Field Order 15, which provided land as a form of reparations to black people.

Lincoln’s successor, President Andrew Johnson, a slavery sympathizer overturned Lincoln’s executive order in 1865 thereby, taking the land given African Americans and dividing it up and giving it to the States, Federal Government and his friends.

There really is no comparison to the treatment that black people have endured during the 400 years of slavery as well as the ongoing systematic racism that we endure each & everyday of our lives in the US. It’s a very harsh reality that only black people can truly understand.
