One theme of the past week. Trump is obviously neutered, defeated, humiliated. His enemies are still determined to hold him up as an "imminent threat," however, to inure the public to the civil liberties-undermining radicalism of what they are doing

Principle to continue bearing in mind: the more extreme the characterization of this event (insurrection, coup, armed rebellion, sedition, narrowly averted mass murder, etc.) the more emotional ammunition exponents of those characterizations have to demand extreme punitive action

2001: “Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists”

2021: “Either you are with us, or you are with the [domestic] terrorists”

By the way, have you noticed that virtually nobody has dared to question the wisdom or necessity of militarizing DC on an unprecedented scale? All of the new buzzwords: insurrection, rebellion, coup, domestic terrorism, etc. very effectively drown out those questions
