@RVABailFund team just learned Republican Leslie Adam’s is proposing HB2152, a bill that would essentially regulate bail funds in VA out of existence. If this passes, we could no longer post bails above 2K, could not post felony bonds, and could only post in the city of Richmond
it would force us to prove that folks we post for are “financially unable” to post their own bond. We would also need to be licensed and surveilled by the state, completing a $900 registration process every two years.
