The DC USAO announces charges against John Sullivan. Sullivan recorded Ashli Babbitt’s shooting and shared the footage with WaPo; the video’s soundtrack puts Sullivan in the Capitol trying to talk officers into abandoning the door to the speakers lobby. https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/utah-man-charged-federal-court-following-events-united-states-capitol

Sullivan says he’s a journalist who was only there to document events, and the affidavit in support of the complaint makes a real effort to knock that down. https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/press-release/file/1354916/download

Among other things, the affidavit notes that Sullivan documented himself encouraging rioters to break down specific doors, advocating w police to leave, offering to make use of a knife, intentionally breaking a Capitol window, and generally indulging in revolutionary fervor.

Confounding the issue, though, Sullivan’s record seems to indicate he would favor a revolution against trump just as feverishly as he got swept up in the attempted revolution for him. And he really did deliver some incredibly important footage of the events.

I’ll be interested to see where the ACLU comes down on this prosecution.

Anyways this part of the allegations is pretty chilling
