spare a minute today to pray for those poor goofballs who took their Capitol protest a bit too far

most of them did no harm (minimal damage, meetings were delayed a bit), but the System is going to use them as examples

slightly foolish idealists are looking at DECADES of prison

I've been in a similar position, and it's terrifying.

With very very good lawyers ... they will still be convicted, but perhaps they can plea down to 2 counts instead of 4, or whatever.

They made one mistake: of thinking that the game isn't rigged.

Like I said, idealists.

You don't have to agree with their politics.

You don't have to agree with their decisions.

I think about, and sometimes pray for, the poor idiot Treyvons and Bubbas and Shanniquas who end up doing hard time "for a simple misunderstanding" (i.e. yes, they broke the law).
4/

The problem with 20 trillion laws, and the problem with SOME LARPing being approved and tolerated (BLM protests, TV talk show drama) and other LARPing getting slapped with MASSIVE penalties, is that there's an almost invisible line between LARP and decades in prison.

Shaniqua doesn't think anything of having an oz or two of pot in her purse, and she doesn't think anything of having a switchblade there either - everyone does it.

And when that ho at McDonalds disses her, she jumps over the counter and grabs her weaves, just like >
6/

everyone did ALL THE TIME in high school, and JUST LIKE this same very ho did to her last week.

and yet, this time it's on camera, and the cops care about McDonalds, and for no reason at all Shaniqua is now facing three or four charges, totaling 7 or 8 years.
7/

I'm not approving of Shaniqua's choices, and I'm not approving of the culture that raised her to think those choices are plausible.

...and I'm not approving of Bubba breaking into his cousin's truck to get back the fishing pole his no account cousin should've returned ...
8/

...and I'm not approving of going to a protest with zip cuffs or a confederate battle flag.

...but the important thing to look at is the SHAPE of the CURVE.

Well designed systems give feedback. They have boundaries and warning signs.

Our systems are psychopathic and cruel

Jesus does not forgive the sinless (if there are any) - he doesn't HAVE to. He hung out with people who were foolish and bad - they were the ones who needed Him.

Similarly, I suggest, we should think about, care about, and pray for the foolish, the LARPers, the prisoners.
10/

That crushing weight of fear and regret, and that sense that there are no exits, is indescribable.

Spare a thought, and a prayer, for the LARPers.

yep

a Verbose Right Wing Blogger once told me that my personal mistakes in 2011 and 2013 was thinking that The State was a butterknife, and that the 1A was real, when in fact it's a tablesaw, and the 1A isn't

he's right https://twitter.com/marinintim/status/1349865479314280449
12/

Would i say that I'd pray for them, and that they don't deserve decades in prison?

Of course! https://twitter.com/alexandrosM/status/1349910849188597772?s=19
