I know no one cares about the Mariners right now so I am sorry but
Had to make sure I wasn't crazy remembering Dipoto and Servais talking about playoffs in 2021 being the goal so I re-read this column from September. The way I read this (and I could be wrong) it sure seems like Dipoto thought he'd have some financial space to play around this offseason. Given the recent report that ownership is now waiting until after 2021 to "think" about spending is, uh, well it's not that great!
I am anti-Dipoto, or at least not pro-Dipoto, so I take no pleasure in reporting it appears more and more that ol' Gerard may be getting a bit of a raw deal from the suits.
