BREAKING: For the first time since the Civil War a U.S. city is occupied by armed forces, not under the command of the Commander in Chief. The 20,000 National Guard troops in DC are from over 30 states meaning they are outside the chain of command of the commander in chief.
/ Guardsmen from 30 states are authorized to provide armed support for the U.S. Capitol Police to protect members of Congress and their staff. The Secretary of the Army authorized the National Guard Bureau to send the troops. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2021/01/13/national-guard-troops-from-around-the-country-continue-to-pour-into-dc-for-inauguration-security/
/ FYI the only National Guard troops under Trump's command are those permanently stationed in DC.
/ The 20,000 National Guard troops are under the de facto control of Speaker Pelosi in consultation with the Biden transition team - a first in American history. Officially they are under the command of the U.S. Capitol Police who are controlled by the Capitol Police Board.
/ The Capitol Police Board consists of three voting members: the Sergeant at Arms of the United States House of Representatives, the Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate, and the Architect of the Capitol.

/ To be clear, the thousands of troops descending upon DC are not "Trump's" troops and he is not even slightly in command. Again, this is the first time since the Civil War that an American city has been occupied by troops, not under the command of the commander in chief.
