When it comes to Facebook ads its "Horses for courses" but here is an outline of the strat I used for this

This is the strategy I use when running ads from a fresh account for multi-product Ecom
The strategy contains 2 campaigns
One cold and one retargeting
The strategy contains 2 campaigns
One cold and one retargeting
The retargeting campaign is a ‘Catalog Sales’ campaign targeting people who have viewed or added to cart but not purchased - I usually start with 14 days but change this depending on results
Catalog sales ads are dynamic ads which gets filled with the product the prospect has been looking at on your website
Ideally, use a discount code to encourage these people back to complete their purchase

So they look at ‘product x’ on your website and next time they come back to Facebook they see ads for ‘product x’ complete with a discount code
Anyone who knows FB ads know this is a bog standard retargeting campaign

The cold campaign is where I do things a little differently from what the experts preach which is to have one single interest or lookalike per adset and 1-6 ads in each
This is what I generally do too as you get just get much more control and reliable data

But with these multi-product stores I run every cold ad from a single adset which can contain multiple interest/lookalikes
I’ve had 30+ active ads in a single adset and been getting amazing results

This strategy works as the store has so many products that running ads the usual, segmented way would need a huge budget
Rather than spreading the budget thinly I sacrifice control and hand it over to the Facebook algorithm

Right at the beginning, I create an adset, choose the audience and include ads for the 5 best selling products
Usually you don't succeed on the first hit so let the ads run and if you are not profitable turn off the adset, duplicate it and make changes to the new version

For the changes a rule of thumb I use is
CTR of ads below 1%? - Change the ads
CTR above 1%? - Change the audience
CTR of ads below 1%? - Change the ads
CTR above 1%? - Change the audience
When you find this winning adset start upping the budget gradually and adding in more ads for other products
What you end up with is a killer adset with hundreds of sales worth of data and a whole load of machine learning
The adset just gets better and better over time
