PLEASE don’t forget the pandemic—it’s easy to be distracted by Trump drama in DC, but we cannot let up on the other global & national crisis. #COVID19 hit 2 consecutive 4000+ death days in a row in US & well on its way to 5000+ soon. 🧵 on key priorities:

2) First, given how many don’t wear masks, we can’t rely on cloth mask guidance everywhere alone. In high risk groups and higher risk settings like crowded stores & public bathrooms, we need premium masks (KN95, KF94, FFP2, etc)—minimum surgical. We need DPA production for them.
3) We need HEPA filters for all schools 🏫 & potentially “upper air” germicidal UV for schools & public buildings that can afford it. Upper air UV is only UV for ceiling, which fans circulate air upwards to disinfect—yielding high 15-17x/hr air exchange, says Dr. @ShellyMBoulder.
4) Ventilation is still king — in environmental health, the classic saying goes “the solution to pollution is dilution”.

Japan assumed it was airborne from the very beginning. Hence all subways/busses all have windows open at all times. #COVID19
5) VENTILATION is key. Both ventilation and masks needed to reduce risk indoors. But most buildings not ventilated well enough.
6) Vaccines in syringes alone don’t save lives—vaccine rollout programs and uptake is what saves lives. Rollout is too low—US vaccinated just 500k in one day... we need at minimum 1 mil a day, and optimally 2 million a day to stay ahead of the B117 if it comes to dominate US.
7) One Disneyland or a few stadiums alone isn’t enough, we need massive wartime mobilization of Army field hospitals 24/7 to get the vaccines into people as fast as humanly possible. We are in a Hurricane Katrina level disaster every single day—but vaccinating like it’s drizzle.
8) Really great thread by @syramadad on overcoming vaccine hesitancy. https://twitter.com/syramadad/status/1349830102281019392
9) Also good reminder from former CDC director @DrTomFrieden why we still need to wear masks even if vaccinated or previously infected. See thread 🧵 below. https://twitter.com/drtomfrieden/status/1349844979645116419
10) 100 million vaccines in 100 days!!! LFG!! https://twitter.com/drericding/status/1349901338805739522
11) ⚠️Need N95/PPF3 masks for all hospital staff

➡️ICU staff have 1/2 the #COVID19 infection risk as staff outside of ICUs. Why?

📌ICU staff mandated to use higher grade FFP3/N95 masks.

📌Non-ICU staff in 🇬🇧 often use surgical masks— leakier filtration.
