Basically, for DECADES now, traditional publishing has seemingly been turning their noses up at "comics" -- that they aren't REAL literature, or some other such bullshit.
And -- as someone who has tried MANY times to get their foot in the door at these publishers -- they few those who WORK on comics in the same light; that we don't actually "understand" how to "publish quality material".
It's frustrating, to say the least. Are more editors with actual comics experience starting to get hired? Yes. Slowly.
But the sooner these publishers realize they need help from those with the skills equipped to do so, the better.
