March comes in like a lion: "loneliness"
Spoilers for March comes in like a lion season 1 and this thread will talk about Kyoko's relationship with Rei and that might contain some talk about toxic relationships.
Most of the time when Kyoko is on the screen all the colors disappear and the only things we are left with are black in white colors and a quiet music playing in the background, it is beautiful yet horrifying. When I first watched March comes in like a lion and I saw Kyoko-
I felt a strange sense of pain in my chest, her existence brought so much pain and suffering to Rei, her appearance in most of the scenes made it painful to watch, she is a manipulative person in every sense of the word, she manipulates Rei to feel an overwhelming sense of guilt-
for every step he takes and her relationship with him is one of the most toxic relationships I have ever seen so why after all of this do I feel a deep sense of sympathy for her and why can I relate to some of her worst fears and her main driving force.
Kyoko is a lonely person who doesn't want to be left alone, doesn't want to be left behind by others. The main reason behind her actions is her loneliness, the main source behind her relationship with Gotou is her yearning for a father figure.-
Her main reason for doing anything is fear.
When Rei decides to leave the house she felt like she was abandoned by him and that everyone else will leave her, she felt like she was the reason behind it. She is a big part of the reason but seeing her like that is really painful-
because this is one of my biggest fears ever, the idea in and of itself sends shivers down my spine. To me so seeing these feelings represented in this kind of way is really frightening and heartbreaking.
I find Kyoko's relationship with Rei to be quite fascinating
"Don't touch me but don't leave me"
this line basically describes her relationship with Rei and it also shows how broken she truly is.This line is fascinating but at the same time it is horrifying bc you can
feel an overwhelming sense of loneliness coming from it.
"Kyouko was like a glass that had cracks in it. No matter how much water you poured into it, it would never be filled. She has a family, is blessed with good looks, and possesses the power to control the people around her.
And yet, like an animal that is always starving, loneliness ate into her heart and that crack in the glass was put there by none other than father and me."
Kyoko's actions are horrible and unforgivable at time but I think that most of us can understand why she does these things -
and I think we can relate to it on deeper level. Loneliness can be a very terrifying thing that eats the hearts of many and it is one of the most horrifying things that can happen to anyone.
If we get down to it Kyoko is just a terrified kid who fears loneliness.
Kyoko feels abandoned by her father.
She fears being abandoned by Rei.
She is just a broken and lonely person at heart, that is why I can relate to her on a deeper level and that is why it is painful to watch her .
