Dont let your Black history month prep be the first time you contact a Black Scientist for a speaking engagement. By Feb 2021 you should already be working with Black scientists at your institution or other local institutions. You should already be working with Black led orgs.

Your Black history month events should be the result of multi year collaborations already established. If you don’t have these connections, make them. If you are reaching out to a Black scientist for Black History Month, this shouldn’t be a one and done.

You need to be reaching out with the intent to build something for your local community. If you are not providing your audience with Black voices outside of those couple of days in Feb, your Black History Month productions are just that, productions, theater.

Black history month is every month.
Your programming should reflect that.
