There is nothing inherently wrong with an ending where the alliance wins. Wanting a dark ending for the sake of a dark ending, is never a good road to take. But before any of these endings occur, there needs to be thematic consistency, character and story conflict conclusions
It all depends on the execution. Those dismissing a dark ending and saying that people only want it, because it’s ‘edgy’, are just as bad as people saying that the alliance ending would suck. AOT is mainly plot centric and that will most likely be the main focus
These are Isayama’s thoughts about character deaths. I highlighted the important part in the first image. In a recent interview we see Isayama has tried to change the course of certain character arcs but it wouldn’t be viable for the story. Characters dying isn’t bad if done well
Again, it comes down to the execution. Saying that this sort of ending doesn’t make sense, and brushing it off shows a lack of faith in isayama’s ability to write a satisfying conclusion, IF this is in fact the path he wants to take. The same goes for the other endings
Now lets assume the alliance wins at the end of the 137-138 stretch. That leaves Isayama with 139, which will most likely be around 50 pages (maybe more). He has to address the major issues outside of the alliance vs Eren. Because more conflicts still exist in the story
It’s about Paradis vs the world. The cycle of hatred and ending the rule of the titans. Reducing Eren to someone that needs to be defeated and not addressing any of these other major issues, is not something that Isayama would do
Lets also consider that AOT has had a mostly negative view on human cooperation. So for all of these issues to suddenly be resolved, would be a huge shift and a major task to do in a convincing way, with just one chapter remaining (139).
It is true that the rumbling wouldn’t resolve all the hate (Kiyomi first pic). This leads me to my next point. Regardless of who wins, there will be a major civil war, more-so if Eren loses, because there are more people in favour of Eren
But it would be much easier to resolve the civil war on Paradis if Eren won, in one chapter, than the civil war on Paradis, and the ‘fight’ against the rest of the world etc, if the alliance won
Even members of the alliance have acknowledged the possible outcome of stopping Eren. Hange suggests that the situation would be even WORSE for Eldians and Jean believes that stopping Eren simply means delaying the inevitable of Paradis being destroyed
We still also need to see the rest of Eren’s POV (131 is an Eren from at least a year ago). We need to know why Historia wanted a child and we need to see what happens to Ymir.

“A girl has a dream. She dreams of a world free from curses and fate.”
Imo theres too much resolve if Isayama intends on having the alliance win. He would need more time to wrap everything up in a satisfying way. Which is why I believe the ending will be very unique. People are allowed to be disappointed with an ending even if it’s well executed btw
