There has been a growing threat in the world that, despite the best efforts of grifters and propagandists, has risen to the point of the national stage unavoidable. I have been very familiar with the threat of Far Right white supremacist groups now for 4 years. This is my story.
Back in 2016 I was making videos critical of hyperbolic Leftist positions in between my science content. This came about because of the stories of Matt Taylor and Tim Hunt. My criticism of those cases I still stand by. However, this introduced me to a subgenre on YouTube.
This subgenre was mostly filled with people like me. We saw ridiculous often distorted by reporting claims on the Left that we had fun criticizing. At times this was cruelty and I participated. Not something I'm proud of. However, this leads to how I discovered this problem
There were quite a few people in this subgenre, and a growing leader was Stefan Molyneux. I first had Stefan come across my radar because people considering his 'de'fooing' (leaving your family if they disagree with you) a cult initiation technique.
Upon further investigation I found he had embraced 'The Bell Curve' and taken the conclusions in the infamous policy manual (it's NOT a work of science) further to initiate his viewers into notions of racial supremacy, but he was very very clever and subtle.
As (at the time) a current Biology student I knew easily that some of the conclusions he was drawing were close to phrenology (studying skull shape) levels of absolute quackery. In Oct 2016, the height of Anti-SJW popularity, I made a 2 part deconstrution
This drew the ire of two groups:

1. Race identitarians with well practiced (and bullshit) talking points eager to debate.
2. A small group of Anti-SJWs horrified I'd criticize a leading member of the 'community'. To be clear, those that did all eventually went hard Right.
This was my first glimpse into the fringes of the online extremist Right, which would later try and take chunks out of me from time to time. Nothing would compare, however, until I would be publicly, and flasely, accused of doxxing...
I'm not going to go into detail on that drama as it's far behind me and I've been since vindicated. However, the person who orchastrated this elaborate hoax was a race supremacist, eager to hurt me and a friend who were at that time openly attacking the Far Right.
The incitement event for the Internet Bloodsports era was, and this is absolutely true, the elaborate hoax framing of doxxing because an Alt Right race supremacist was pissed me and @notreallykraut were criticizing his fucked up, backward beliefs.
Anyway, all of this is to provide you the context for how I /KNOW/ what a threat this all is. We're almost there.
Following the dramatic blow up was around 2 years of death threats, my family getting doxxed, you name it. I got a colorful description of someone wanting to saw my son's head off. In short, I bought many guns and a security system and I began to watch.
I'll spare you the details of the worst of it, but I have it all archived.

Anyway, I began to watch their boards, their chat rooms and their telegram channels.
When Christchurch happened? I saw it before Twitter did because I literally saw the dude post it. I was watching that board specifically because that was where I had been previously doxed and watched anons discuss my future murder.
I've kept myself clear of any groups involved in watching these groups, working solely on my own. But you spend enough time digging through shit and it takes its toll on you.

Meanwhile I watched thousands and thousands of people downplay the problem just like I once did.
There is a trope: 'Sure they're bad but there aren't that many of them.' I regurgitated that prior to October 2016. I was still unsure until 2017. Then I saw, then I knew.

Many of you now see, many of you now know as well. But let's really get into it.
For many people it was Christchurch. At home for many it was Charlottesville where thousands marched, hundreds shouted against Jews and a woman lost her life to basically a Neo Nazi. https://time.com/charlottesville-white-nationalist-rally-clashes/
And now we've seen it at the capitol. Neo Nazis in meme shirts along with redneck fuckwits with Confederate flags in the home of our democracy. Now you know, now you see.

But it's more complicated than that.
One of the worst parts of online culture surrounding race issues is that people who gain a following for beliefs are rewarded for not budging. And those who espouse their beliefs don't necessarily defend them. This is why good people can turn into witless puppets for extremism.
There will always be a new line waiting behind them where they can retreat as to not lose their audience or, like me, be threatened and antagonized for years for standing up for convictions. This is why they refuse to acknowledge the problem.

They are cowards.
Make no mistake, I don't feel like I am some titan of a man because of this. I went through extreme circumstances that forced me to see. Would I still be a chud if not for these events? I truly hope not. But I don't know.
My advice: If you're desperate to ignore how severe this problem is, with Trump's own Fed and DHS warning these are bigger threats than ISIS and Al Queda? Stop, take a breath, and look into it. Don't try and make comparisons, don't run away from it. https://abc7chicago.com/domestic-terrorism-fbi-us-capitol-building-the-internet/9634442/
Once you free yourself from the fear of these facts being reality, you will gain strength from it. It won't be some edgy YouTuber's talking points you think with. It won't be MY talking points either.

It will be you. YOU will know. YOU will see.
