There’s a weird thing where Veterans vote like 55% for the GOP 45% for Dems, but the media thinks Veterans are like 90% GOP and therefore refuse to cover any Vets identifying as left-leaning because they think it’s “not representative,” thereby contributing to the misperception.
Black Republicans get more prominent billing than progressive veterans!
As a Veteran, you’re allowed to be stridently conservative, or non-political.
And then we wonder how right-wing extremists get the impression that the military is on “their side.”

Plus even the 55-45% split is deceptive, because 90% of it disappears when you simply adjust for demographics.
Veterans skew old. 50% of vets are over age 65. Those are the conservative ones! Because old people lean conservative!
The rest is just the overrepresentation of men!
