So I’ve started a #vinyl project this year & it’s based on @Dorothy_UK brilliant stamp print of electronic music, which I pass on the stairs umpteen times a day 1/
I realised that if someone new asked my my favourite type of music I’d probably say ‘electronic’ before elaborating on anything else 2/
And over Christmas I found myself looking at the albums on the print in more detail & realising that there were some I didn’t own or even some I hadn’t heard before 3/
So, the challenge is to find them or if they’re way out of my budget to at least listen to them! I already own some of course 4/
No.1 on the list is Silver Apples by Silver Apples from 1968. I have been meaning to listen to this but never have... slap wrists. Went looking for a copy & found there’s a reissue coming out in z as few weeks, so it’s on order from @normanrecords 5/
No.2 on the list is Neu! by Neu! from 1972. I first heard Hallogallo on the radio I think & it stopped me dead in my tracks! Amazing! I had the cd but recently got a lovely reissue on white vinyl. Listening to it now 6/
No.3 on the list is Phaedra by Tangerine Dream from 1974 - I have this already on vinyl (for some reason not cataloged on Discogs) but haven’t listened for awhile. Going to dig it out tomorrow. I have these too 7/
No.4 on the list is Autobahn by Kraftwerk also from 1974 - here’s my U.K 1975 embossed copy signed by Wolfgang Flur - what can I say? An absolute electronic classic
No.5 is Deluxe by Harmonia from 1975 a combination of Rother of Neu! & Roedelius and Moebius of Cluster. Not one I’d heard before but have enjoyed Harmonia & Cluster tracks I’ve heard on compilations. Can definitely hear an influence on Bowie, especially Rother’s guitar
