I've done much work with Scottish Labour over past years and the truth is Labour's decline has been structural for a decade, not particularly leader or faction related.

Labour's past core vote feel better represented by the SNP. Until that changes, not much will change.
In recent years, strategy has been how to appeal to ex Lab/young voters attracted by Indy. It's far more complex. From 2010, earlier, SNP grabbed change/centre left mantle from Lanour and have deepened that hold. Labour attacks on SNP rebound as attack on an idea.
And reminiscing the big hitters of the past, Cook, Brown, Dewar, is almost certainly part of Scot Labour's problem. Its structural, not HR. The SNP has replaced Labour as the centre left party of change. In depth study needed now of the lost voters.
Scottish Labour is now at a critical moment. The question really isnt who but what. Its support base has become institutionalised at below 20%, it was in the 50s only 15 years ago.
