So reports suggest that India is willing to try a different template for Gabba. This seems to be the line-up and looks like particular roles has been assigned to players

1. Rohit
2. Gill
3. Mayank
4. Pujara
5. Rahane
6. Pant
7. Sundar
8. Ashwin
9. Shardul
10. Saini
11. Siraj https://twitter.com/CrickeyRicky/status/1348892638133374977
• Rohit, Gill & Mayank can ride the bounce pretty well. They are expected to not let the bowlers settle and find line & length. If the openers put a good partnership, Mayank is supposed to cash it. If one of them falls early then he brings his experience of handling new ball.
• Pujara, Rahane, Pant

Pujara to hold the fort after a supposed good start, Rahane & Pant supposed to keep up the acceleration and move closer to 400. The speed shouldn't go down at any point because it allows the bowlers to settle. Might sound stupid if it were any other test.
• Ashwin

Australia is playing with 2 left handed openers and Ashwin is a beast against the left handers. The Australians too will be looking for a quick start. Ashwin is supposed to give us the openers and thus help reducing pressure from the inexperienced Siraj and Saini.
• Siraj

Guy has displayed extreme displine with line & length in the last 2 matches. If he continues with the displine and doesn't get rattled by the attack, he is sure to be rewarded by the pitch. He is supposed to lead the fast bowling and even bowl the longest spells.
• Saini

Probably the weakest link in the team but also the biggest X-factor. He will have the new ball in hand and he will get the most help from the pitch due to his speed but only if he finds the line & length early on. Will have a task to get Labuschange & the tailenders.
• Shardul

Seems like he will be used in bursts in between the spells with bowling around 17-18 overs in a day. Guy bowls at 135 and gets decent swing and has a good character. If he can execute the variations, he can surprise the batsmen and can get them too, Smith particularly
• Sundar

- Choke the runs and create pressure
- Tempt the agressor & create chances
- Be a surprise: Half the Aus team has never played him, nor has he been over analysed due to not being in Squad
- Bowl 15 overs a day and cover Ashwin
- Score 30/40 runs & delay arrival of tail
How well the execution happens is another thing but the game plan seems to be on the right track.

Match-ups seem to be perfect, roles seem to be perfectly aligned and the counterattack mentality seems to be on. Different template is here!

Well planned is half done, isn't it?
