The original concept of distributed ledgers is incredibly exciting, a " foundational internet technology" that has true and deep potential for active social good - transparent supply chains! better voting systems! collective data storage!
But that didn't happen.

Besides the deep environmental implications of Bitcoin are the social ones.
It matters who's in charge. It matters who decides. We can't help but decide with those like us in mind first, and that's why so few women + POC working in blockchain concerns me.

You only get scarily misguided things like Coinbase's Mission Protocol from a CEO and leadership team with the incredible luxury not to think that financial systems are political.
