In 2016, he said, "I apologized for how my words were misunderstood," (which is an interesting distortion.)
In 2015, amid a flurry of apologies, he was sorry for "hurting" Israeli Arab citizens.
He is not sorry. In 2019, he declared that Joint List leaders @AyOdeh & @Ahmad_tibi posed "an immediate existential threat to Israel." Netanyahu's message was heard loud and clear: Tibi required protection from the Knesset Guards Service. https://twitter.com/ntarnopolsky/status/1195784322437074944
Lots of people hear Netanyahu loud & clear. Obama heard him, and told Netanyahu "that kind of rhetoric was contrary to what is best of Israel's traditions."
This was before he knew that Netanyahu's robocalls referred to him as "Hussein Obama, the Muslim."
In an email to @JohnPodesta, @PaulBegala wrote "In the US you could never get away with those kind of racist appeals. But, man, did it work."
White House spokesman @joshearnest understood, saying “That cynical election day tactic was a pretty transparent effort to marginalize Arab-Israeli citizens and their right to participate in their democracy.”
This is what Netanyahu said: “The right-wing government is in danger. Arab voters are heading to the polling stations in droves. Left-wing NGOs are bringing them by the busload.” Everybody understood. It'll never go away https://m.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152778935532076&set=vb.268108602075&type=2&theater
