Stop valorizing Kendzior. She also predicted that the election wouldn’t happen, and threw cold water on get out the vote efforts.

There are all *kinds* of people who saw these dangers coming who worked flat out to protect elections and get out the vote.
It matters that Biden won. It matters that there’s still a House majority and that there’s going to be a Senate majority.

And I think that, if not for people who prophesied doom and incited hopelessness, we could have won more elections.
Don’t mistake cynicism for insight.
And look, I think that she was right about some important things and that she has been sincere in her efforts to stop fascism.

I also think that part of her approach involved dumping on other people’s efforts to protect democracy in a way that was really counterproductive.
And one thing that has been a major problem for decades in politics is that in certain circles, there’s a lot of pressure not to be optimistic and not to believe seriously in the possibility that your efforts could actually succeed.
In the dire circumstances we’re in, it’s really hard to avoid a downward spiral of despair.

…which is why people on the right keep trying to incite despair.

We have to keep trying and hold out hope for the possibility that our efforts could work.
