THREAD regarding: The 'Review of Post 16 Quals at Level 3' consultation. This consultation has been out since 23/10/2020 & closes 15/01/2021. This will impact post 16 provision for PA if the current offer is removed & the replacement doesn't have an alternative comparable qual.
Having no t-level in Performing Arts must be an oversight that needs to be addressed? However, we must ask the strategic question of who would make & administer this qualification? What are Drama schools doing to consider the qualification pathways of students prior to post 18?
Read the consultation here: https://consult.education.gov.uk/post-16-qualifications-review-team/review-of-post-16-qualifications-at-level-3/
It is an open consultation - anyone can respond not just educators. The consultation focuses on level 3 quals and views around groups of qualifications continuing to be funded alongside A levels & T Levels. Level 2 will follow.
As we have said previously, we are not a subject association and we don't therefore respond to consultations as 'Open Drama UK.' We gave advice/suggestions last year with the proposed modified exams in light of Covid-19 but didn't respond on behalf of teachers collectively.
We do not have a membership and we therefore don't represent the views of people who engage with us. Drama subject associations/organisations that may be better placed to formally respond on behalf of their membership would be @National_Drama, @NISDAtweet, @nateachingdrama.
We will always support any teachers and theatre educators who would like advice or guidance on responding to any consultation. Please email us on: [email protected] if you would like our support.
You can follow @open_drama_uk.
