Me thinking that a certain hashtag trending means we can finally have a conversation about adoption and poc only to learn that it's a bunch of racist trolls once again stealing a word meant for poc in certain adoption situations. A disappointment ugh.
Maybe. People should listen to actual transracial adoptees about things instead of a bunch of white racists. It's literally been our word for a long time.
I know that there's also an article using it from the 1970s too bc I've read it but Google scholar on mobile is pain
This has literally been here for years. Like. I literally hate r*chel d*lezal so much for telling ppl that aren't adopted that the very word transracial exists bc now we're told that we're a joke and that we don't exist.
Like white racist trolls misusing the word I can understand but then they give the wrong idea of what it is to ppl who have never meant an adopted person in their life and probably don't meant to invalidate poc adoptee experiences but say stuff like this.
Literally looking at some of these comments from well meaning people who are against bigotry like racism and transphobia accidentally telling an exist demographic of mostly poc that we don't exist and are "mentally ill" or "stupid" is so hurtful. I'm sick to my stomach and salty.
since im still kinda salty maybe ill just post a thing a day related to transracial adoption - either like actual sociology research papers anyone can easily find via ggl scholar or like actual posts/blogs of adoptees.
also like. finding stuff on ggl scholar isnt hard. again, about 50+ years of research on how race affects adoption.
